Lucky you! I was able to have a brief email exchange with him in recent years, but I really wish we'd communicated back in the late 70's. I guess I was too shy, but I was buying all the Trek fan stuff he produced. It was the best Trek-tech around, then. So even though we're close in age (he's a year older), I count him among my foundational influences. Tell him Rob Caswell says hi. He won't remember me... but I'm in his debt.
It is funny, in the 70's I lived in NYC and hit the same Conventions as he and Doug Drexler did, but some how our paths never crossed, until now. lol I know we are all about the same age, give or take a year.
mine was in Nov 72 I think.. it was the second ever Star Trek Con in NYC. I went every year after that for the 10 years I lived in NY. Hit a few in Dallas and Houston in the 70's. Then went to San Diego comic Con a lot when I lived there. Since I moved to Oregon I have only been once, last year, to the San Diego Comic Con.. plan to go next year though.
