Sorry for not responding sooner to all favorites and messages and for not FAVING lately, but my daughter passed away so haven't been here for a while. I can't not be sure I will be here much in the foreseeable future, but know I appreciate all faves and comments.

It has been a long year. Did a lot of artwork for commercial ventures, won some awards and accolades, did a bunch of home improvements that had me off of deviantart for quite a while.

Well I hope be back on here for the winter months. Of course you can always email me or contact me on FaceBook too if you need to get to me.

Recently it has been brought to my attention that people are using my artwork for their own projects, either for fun or commercially. You guys know that is not OK, but when I inquire about it, I have been told that they were found on Hubble Images/NASA etc and therefore were fair use.  Well I am sorry to tell you they are not fair use. Anyone can download my artwork, ((which use to be Wallpapers, for PERSONAL USE ON A COMPUTER MONITOR ONLY,)) and then share it and tag it as Hubble and the search engines will not know the difference and will add it to Hubble images fooling anyone who is not conversant with the actual images. If you want FREE NASA Hubble images I suggest going to the actual NASA.gov site and search there. That way you will be getting authentic free images from NASA that you can use. If you hunt through the internet you will find tons of images that make you think are free but really are not.  And BTW WALLPAPERS ARE NOT STOCK. YOU MAY NOT USE THEM IN YOUR IMAGES.

Please guys/gals save yourself, and me a lot of headaches and double check your images before you download and use them in your art.

Thanks

And this Reef Nebula by Casperium  is MY artwork and not a Hubble Image.

As you guys probably know I worked on the Space Art for the visual effects for  Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome.   We were nominated for an Emmy but didn't win. However we were also nominated for Best VFX for an IAWTV Award and last night we won.......International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV) Awards for 2014. We also won for Best Drama.  This is my first Award and I am ecstatic!! woohoo!!!!!

Emery Nebula by Casperium  My Emery Nebula received a Daily Deviation today 12-29-13. I want to thank  :iconshue13: Sebastien, for it, it is a total surprised and I am honored he thought it worthy of a D.D.  I want to say Thank you to everyone who Faves and Comments on it, and ask that you forgive me if I am not able to say Thank you, to each and every one of you. This whole Christmas week has found me in bed most of the day. The Grand kids gave me their Cold/Flu? (I don't think it has decided what it wants to be) and it has kicked my ass. They are fine and playing and Grandma is sick.lol.. They even got Grandpa sick.  So if I haven't faved  your artwork the last few days it is because I haven't had the gumption too sit to long.

Thanks to everyone, and have a Happy New Year 2014.

One of my biggest projects to date is finally unveiled: The Star Trek Stellar Cartography Maps: Star Trek Stellar Cartography Cover by Casperium I designed the box, the Vulcan map, and did 4 backgrounds for the maps in it.

47North and becker&mayer! announceSTAR TREKTMStellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library

Officially licensed, gorgeously illustrated collection featuring ten original, fully removable large-format maps of the Star Trek universe

From the publishers of Star Trek Federation: The First 150 Years comes a stunning new map collection straight from cartography archives of Starfleet Academy: STAR TREK Stellar Cartography: Starfleet Reference Library (47North/becker&mayer! On-sale: December 2013; ISBN-13:, ISBN-10: 1,$79.95).  These beautifully reproduced maps provide a rare opportunity to view the expanse of Federation space (and beyond) through the multiple lenses of the Galaxy's key players—visually expanding the Star Trek universe in never-before-seen ways. Compiled by Star Trek expert Larry Nemecek (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion) with illustrations by Ian Fullwood, Ali Ries and Geoffrey Mandel, STAR TREK Stellar Cartography: Starfleet Reference Library will release in December 2013.

The original maps include an ancient Vulcan map, a Klingon Empire map from the pre-Organian Peace Treaty era (in the native Klingon), an official Romulan government map of the Empire, a native Cardassian Union map from the occupied-Bajor era, along with Federation maps from the modern era. Housed in a handsome clamshell case and paired with a fully-illustrated reference book providing detailed information on planets, systems, and topography, this 48-page collection, licensed by CBS Consumer Products, will have something for Star Trek fans of all ages.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Larry Nemecekis an author, editor and Star Trek consultant. He wrote the New York Times bestseller Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion. Nemecek edited the Star Trek Communicator magazine for eight years, contributed to Star Trek Fact Files in the UK, and served as a consultant on Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas. He lives in Burbank with his wife, Janet.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATORS
Ian Fullwood lives and works in rural Herefordshire, England, and has clients both at home and in the USA. With more than 20 years of experience in technical illustration and commercial art, Ian's love of the technical has taken him from traditional earth bound engineering type illustrations to the far flung galaxies of the Sci-Fi genres, illustrating more recently the maps of the Star Trek Stellar Cartography and previously Star Wars Vehicles, Weapons, Droids and Planets.

Ali Ries is a 3D digital artist from Salem, Oregon. Coming of age in the NASA era of Gemini and Apollo anchored her artist roots in space. Like many children of the Sixties she was mesmerized by Neil Armstrong's historic first moonwalk, wishing she could be standing beside him in the grand adventure.

When Star Trek premiered on network television her future was paved with dream of some future in the world of Sci-Fi and Fantasy art or special effects. With the equivalent of a mental Hubble platform, Ali began creating astronomical star scapes, nebulae, and other space scenes as real as the night sky.
Today her work is used on book covers, television projects and other media around the world, including the recent SyFy network project, BSG: Blood and Chrome, Riddick 3 and Star Trek Fandom movies.

Geoffrey Mandel began his career as an art department P.A. on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Since 1995 he has worked as a graphic designer for films and TV shows, including many projects in the Star Trek franchise and various genre shows, such as The X-Files, Space: Above and Beyond, and the 2005 film Serenity, a spin-off the cult sci-fi series Firefly. In his spare time, Mandel designs and illustrates props, blueprints and star maps for various science fiction franchises, including the Serenity blueprints, and maps of the Star Trek, Firefly and Battlestar Galactica universes.

NEIL ARMSTRONG
R.I.P ~ August 5, 1930 - August 25, 2012

Today we mourn the loss of a true hero and icon of a generation, if not an entire century: Neil Alden Armstrong, former NASA astronaut and first person to set foot on the Moon, has passed away due to complications from cardiovascular surgery. Armstrong had recently turned 82 years old on August 5.

I was 15 when he stepped on the Moon. I watched it on TV for hours on end. He was my Hero.

YAY! All of the merchandise with my artwork has been removed.  I threatened the seller to report him to EBAY if he didn't remove them and he did... It was a lot faster than if I had to go through all of the hassle that ebay wanted me to go through. Plus if they close him down then he would be up with another account in no time. This way I can monitor him.
Thanks everyone for all of your support!

EDIT: People wondered why I stopped making wallpapers.....and why now when I do make art  or a few new wallpapers, I watermark it. Because I caved in before and didn't watermark because everyone complained it ruined the wallpaper...even when I put a name or sig....now I have to put up with people ripping my artwork, posting it all over the internet without giving me credit, and even cropping off my sig when I did put one. It is frustrating to have to spend hours copying links for over 110 items because some asshole thought it would be cool to try and get away with stealing my art.

MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!  The nerve of some people. This guy is on Ebay  stores.ebay.co.uk/OH-MY-GOD-FA…; is selling merchandise with my images on it.  And one of the image actually has my name on it: ROF II Nebula by casperium............grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.. My ROF II, Cradle Nebula, Fallen Icons Nebula, Nogano Nebula and Saphirefenix are being used on 110 pieces of merchandise......

And EBAY wants you to FAX them a list of the offending items.........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Makes my blood pressure want to explode!
